Victoria ROI 2026-27: open date, fees and how it works

A Registration of Interest (ROI) is how you ask Victoria to consider you for 190 or 491 state nomination. Here is where the 2026-27 program stands, what it costs and what you can prepare now.

Victorian ROIs are not open yet

Victoria announced its 2026-27 Skilled Visa Nomination Program on 13 October 2026, but has not yet opened Registrations of Interest or announced an opening date. Status last checked 15 October 2026.

When does the 2026-27 ROI open?

There is no opening date yet. Victoria announced its 2026-27 program on 13 October 2026, including new fees and the Victorian Points Test, and says it will publish more detail when the program opens. We check the official page and update this one when anything changes.

ROIs from earlier program years do not carry over, so everyone who wants nomination in 2026-27 needs to submit a new ROI once it opens.

What a Victorian ROI costs

Registration of Interest
$60 plus GST ($66)
190 or 491 nomination application
$180 plus GST ($198)

2026-27 is the first year Victoria charges these fees. The ROI fee is charged once per program year, and the nomination fee is only paid if you are invited to apply.

How the ROI process works

  1. Lodge or update your SkillSelect EOI for the 190 or 491 visa, nominating Victoria.
  2. Submit a Victorian ROI on the Live in Melbourne website once the program opens, using your EOI number.
  3. Victoria ranks every ROI with the Victorian Points Test and invites the highest totals in each round.
  4. If invited, lodge a nomination application with your documents and pay the nomination fee.
  5. If Victoria nominates you, SkillSelect invites you to apply for the visa with the Department of Home Affairs.

How ROIs are ranked

Every ROI receives a Victorian Points Test score out of 950 from seven factors: age, English, years of experience, education, occupation skill level, partner skill and annual earnings from skilled work in Victoria. There is no pass mark. In each round Victoria invites the highest totals across all eligible occupations and the highest totals within each priority industry: healthcare, social assistance, education and construction.

What to prepare before ROIs open

  • A positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation.
  • A current English test result. Moving from Competent to Proficient English adds 100 VPT points.
  • A SkillSelect EOI scoring at least 65 points. Check yours with the SkillSelect points calculator.
  • Evidence of your work experience, qualifications and, if you work in Victoria, your earnings.
  • If you have a partner, check whether their occupation is on the 2026-27 priority list, which can add 50 VPT points.

Common questions

When does the Victoria ROI open for 2026-27?

Victoria has not announced an opening date. It announced the 2026-27 Skilled Visa Nomination Program on 13 October 2026, and Registrations of Interest had not opened when this page was last checked on 15 October 2026. Victoria publishes the opening on the Live in Melbourne website.

How much does a Victorian ROI cost?

From 2026-27, an ROI costs $60 plus GST ($66) and a 190 or 491 nomination application costs $180 plus GST ($198). You only pay the nomination fee if you are invited to apply. The ROI fee is charged once per program year.

Does my ROI from last year still count?

No. ROIs from earlier program years do not carry over. You need to submit a new ROI once the 2026-27 program opens.

How are Victorian ROIs ranked?

Every ROI is ranked with the Victorian Points Test, which scores age, English, experience, education, occupation skill level, partner skill and earnings in Victoria out of 950. Victoria invites the highest totals across all occupations and within each priority industry.

What do I need before I submit an ROI?

A SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) for the 190 or 491 visa nominating Victoria, a positive skills assessment, an English test result and a points score of at least 65 on the SkillSelect test. You enter your EOI number in the ROI.

Is an ROI the same as a visa application?

No. An ROI only tells Victoria you want to be considered for nomination. If you are invited, you then lodge a nomination application, and only if Victoria nominates you can you be invited to apply for the visa itself.
